SUCCESS STORY · FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PRESERVES

Daily output doubled with a newly configured filling line

From 5,000 to 10,000 jars a day—with coordinated dosing, capping and conveying equipment.

About the company

DROS is one of Poland's largest producers of fruit and vegetable preserves.

The company produces a wide range of jarred foods, including salads, juices, horseradish, pickles, compotes, pickled mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, and numerous fruit and vegetable preserves.

The range includes around 100 different products for retail and the food trade.

The challenge

In 2019, DROS undertook one of the largest investments in the company's history.

The goal was not only to increase production capacity, but to make the entire production process more efficient, structured and future-proof.

Before automation, many tasks were carried out manually.

Jars had to be transported, production quantities recorded by hand, and several dosing stations operated at the same time.

As a result, production was labour-intensive and physically demanding. Production capacity was also limited.

When producing pickles in particular, precise coordination between dosing, capping and pasteurisation was essential.

The solution

Together with Marba, a complete production line for filling and packaging pickles was developed.

The line includes:

  • liquid dosing system
  • automatic capping machine
  • lid feeder
  • conveying equipment
  • ergonomically designed workstations
  • transport equipment

The line was later expanded with a dosing system for products with pieces and a cap placing machine.

Today, the same production line is used not only for pickles, but also for products such as pears, beetroot, juices and barszcz.

The results

Double the production output

Daily output increased from around 5,000 to 10,000 jars per day—in a single shift.

Fewer staff—more efficient processes

Although production is now significantly higher, staffing requirements were reduced from around 30 to 20 employees.

The production line automates numerous tasks, reducing the workload for employees in their day-to-day work.

Clearer workflows throughout the production line

For DROS, one of the biggest benefits was not simply the increase in production capacity.

The new production line creates well-structured workflows and sets the pace of production.

As a result, all employees work under the same conditions and at a steady production rhythm.

The result:

  • less unnecessary movement,
  • less chaos,
  • less physical strain,
  • more efficient teamwork across the entire line.

As the customer explains, the benefits extend beyond the company to its employees above all.

A steady, fair work rhythm enables higher productivity with less strain.

Higher product quality for consumers

Automatic dosing ensures consistent fill volumes and repeatable product quality.

Overfilling and underfilling are a thing of the past.

Consumers receive a high-quality product with consistently reliable quality.

Because—as the customer puts it:

“Everything we do, we do for the consumer.” - Joanna, Managing Director of DROS

The collaboration

DROS has been working with Marba Sp. z o.o. since the 1990s.

Conclusion

With the new production line, DROS was able to:

✔ double daily output

✔ reduce staffing requirements

✔ improve product quality

✔ sustainably improve work organisation

✔ create better working conditions for employees

✔ make production more efficient over the long term.

💡 Expert tip from Machines4FoodIndustry

How can a well-planned production line improve not only productivity, but also working conditions?

Automation is not about replacing people.

An intelligently designed production line reduces unnecessary manual tasks, creates well-structured workflows and ensures a steady production rhythm.

This not only boosts production efficiency. It also reduces physical strain, makes work processes more transparent and ensures more consistent product quality.

That is why the best automation projects create value for everyone involved—the company, its employees and the consumer.
